A measuring tape or anything you can find—shoelaces, scarves, ribbon, belts.
How it works:
- Ask: “How long do you think God’s love is?”
- Let kids guess and stretch the measuring tape as far as it goes.
- Let them keep adding things—scarves tied together, string, belts—anything to make it longer and longer.
- Laugh and cheer as it gets silly and huge!
Connection:
“No matter how long we make this, God’s love is even longer. We can’t measure it because it never ends.”
4 – Scripture Reading
Ephesians 3:14-19 (Read the passage and talk about it together.)
Discuss: What stands out to you about this scripture?
1 Corinthians 13:4–7
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
DISCUSS:
1. How have you experienced God’s protection? (Encourage little kids by asking: "When did you feel safe because God helped you?)
2. How does knowing that God protects you help you feel less afraid or anxious? (Parents ask, “What’s something that scares you sometimes, and how could we pray about it together?”)
3. God protects us even when we can’t see it. What do you think that looks like? (Parents ask, “Can you guess some ways God keeps you safe every day?”

5 – Communion
Take communion together as a family. Pause and remember Jesus’ sacrifice and love.
Read the following:
The night before Jesus went to the cross, He had a meal with his disciples.
“He took some bread and gave thanks to God for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”” (Luke 22:19)
[Eat the bread/cracker]
“After supper he took another cup of wine and said, “This cup is the new covenant between God and his people—an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.” (Luke 22:20)
[Drink the juice]
Pray together, thanking Jesus for His sacrifice.
